What lands
Access to dental care is shaped by more than whether someone wants an appointment. Cost, insurance coverage, transportation, time away from work, and where dentists practice can all create barriers. My grandfather had to drive two hours for dental care in rural Texas, which made the geographic issue personal to me. I'd like to learn more about community-based care and ways dentists can make treatment easier to reach.

What most people say
It's a huge problem. So many people in this country don't have access to basic dental care, and it falls hardest on low-income and rural communities, which I don't think most people realize. It's something we all have a responsibility to address, and I hope to be part of the solution and give back to underserved communities however I can.
